This final project concerns the use of songs as a medium for teaching vocabulary in the Elementary School, a case study in the 4th grade of SD Negeri Pucungroto Magelang.
The experimental study by using song as a medium for teaching vocabulary in the Elementary school was conducted using the forty-eight students of SD Negeri Pucungroto Magelang as the subject of the experiment.
Twenty-four students in the experimental group were taught vocabulary by using song and twenty-four students in the control group without using song. The five songs are Hello, All the Children of the World, Counting, Families and Alphabet’s Song. A vocabulary post-test are given to both groups of students in the experimental group and the control group.
The result of the study shows that the experimental group obtained better scores than the control group. It was found that more students of the experimental group have higher grades than the control group. After the statistical analysis was used, there was a significant contribution to the students’ achievement by using songs as a medium for teaching vocabulary in the elementary school.
